I was excited when I saw this image posted to an Instagram account.

The caption, from a guy with the username 2Slevin — “Beerrunner: A little step before becoming quadriathlete! #quadriathlon #beer #running #brooks”

Did this mean that Brooks running shoes started producing its own beer??

It seemed far fetched, but would fit its branding “Run Happy.”

“Run happy is behind everything we do,” Brooks explains on its website. “It’s the emotional core of the running experience.”

The run happy website collage includes photos of a runner with beer literally on his brain, as well as a keg mascot cheering runners on.

So back to this photo on Instagram. According to 2Slevin, the quadriathlon “is evolution of triathlon,” swim, ride, run AND drink a good craft beer. Is this a new event that Brooks is sponsoring with its own brand of beer?

Upon further investigation, unfortunately, I realized it’s not an officially sanctioned Brooks event — yet. There’s nothing on their site about this, and when you look closer at the photo you see it’s a DIY label wrapped around a Miller Genuine Draft can.

But maybe this is the start of something new. 2Slevin, you may have launched a run happier revolution.

The new IPA

Cloudy, hugely flavorful and a lot less bitter, the new breed of IPA is earning high scores and high praise from fans.
