TACO & BEER RESTAURANTS: 5 great spots for taps and tortillas
Rosie’s // NYC
Restaurateurs Marc Meyer and Vicki Freeman of Cookshop, Hundred Acres and Vic’s opened this East Village shop a year ago with elements both traditional (al pastor and barbacoa tacos served on tortillas made with fresh-ground masa) and decidedly Big Apple (Other Half’s hop-forward gems on draft).
Loco Pez // Philadelphia
The cash-only, Christmas light-decked Fishtown “dive” dishes up traditional as well as vegetarian-friendly tacos for lunch, weekend brunch and dinner. Wash them down with a shot from the extensive tequila selection or one of two-dozen Mexican and local brews on draft and in cans and bottles.
Tacos & Beer // Las Vegas
This hip taqueria is located a few blocks off the strip but shares its clubby vibe: DJs spin tracks on Techno Taco Tuesdays and Nacho House Sundays, setting an energetic playlist over your night of tasting tacos alongside 20 rotating drafts and 80 bottles and cans.
Veracruz All Natural at Radio Coffee & Beer // Austin
How do you make a killer beer bar even cooler? Park Veracruz’s taco truck out back daily and let guests chase their Hops & Grain or (512) Brewing pint with chicken, fish and veggie tacos.
¡Salud! // San Diego
Lauded local brews as well as lesser-known Mexican craft drafts accent the menu at the brick-and-mortar location of the San Diego Taco Company, one of the city’s top caterers.
More taco tidbits:
What’s the country’s top-priced taco? At Rose. Rabbit. Lie., the swanky restaurant at Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, you can order a $78 Caviar Taco: the simple gold potato shell cradles hamachi and Russian golden osetra caviar. Out of your budget? There’s also a $15 version with wild caviar.
Want tacos delivered? Not just our favorite palindrome, it’s also our favorite taco/beer idea: Minneapolis’ Taco Cat delivers piping hot tacos and bombers from Eastlake Brewery (please show ID) to your door via bike messenger.
