Your Daily Pint for Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 is: WEST SIXTH PAY IT FORWARD COCOA PORTER
What it is: a 7%-ABV porter brewed with cocoa nibs.
What it tastes like: Roasted malts and smooth chocolate hit the nose. Rich cocoa fills out a smooth porter sip; a slight roasted malts edge sharpens the wash of chocolate and toasted malts; a nice, clean bitter finish wraps up the sip.
Look at that can! That’s the 32-ounce Crowler, the newest take-away vessel sweeping the craft beer world. This single-use can, designed by Oskar Blues and Ball Corporation, is essentially a canned version of a growler. Brewpubs can fill and seal these things with draft pours, so you no longer have to worry about sanitizing your own growler. Here: Let Oskar Blues fill you in on the details. Though we scored a Crowler, PIY Cocoa Porter will be available in sixer bottles starting September.
Beer for a cause: For each sixer, West Sixth will donate 50-cents to non-profits in communities where the beer is sold. So, you can enjoy a few pours of this rich, chocolaty beer and feel good about yourself, too.
