Cider Summit ChicagoOn the cusp of a new month, it’s time to scout new beer desinations. If I had an unlimited domestic travel budget, no full-time job and guaranteed positive airport bar interactions, this would be my beer bucket list for February 2015:

NYC Beer Week: From February 20 through March 1, the Big Apple becomes even more awash in beer than it normally is (for a guide to NYC any time of year, see our Beertown, USA: Manhattan feature). Events during Beer Week include tours, crawls and the Brewers Choice bash.

Pike Brewing Co. ChocoFest, Seattle: On February 8, Pike opens all three of its building’s floors for the seventh annual festival of all things beer and chocolate. Expect live music, sweet and savory food, oysters, beer, cider, mead and more. This year, the festival adds a chocolate cask beer section.

Enegren Tap Room, Moorpark, Calif.: The brewery’s new building and tasting room opened at the tail end of January, located across the street from the former, smaller location. Stop in for tastings, tours and live music.

Cider Summit Chicago: Cider Summit’s only Midwest fest takes over Chicago’s Navy Pier ballroom on February 7 with two sessions, each featuring more than 150 ciders. Beyond crisp, classic English styles, seek out funkier Basque styles and sparkling French versions.

Omaha Beer Week: Between Feb. 13 and 20, Omaha hosts a slew of beer-centric events, including pint specials, brew bus tours, special tappings and more. Appropriately for Valentine’s Day, there’s a beer-fueled speed-dating night.

Pinball at West Sixth Brewing, Lexington, Kent.: West Sixth opened up seating in the brewery’s barrel room, and added a totally genius pinball selection. A Cocoa Porter and some high scores? Count me in.

Arizona Beer Week: Hope you’ve recovered from the big game in time to celebrate between Feb. 12 and 21. The highlight for many? The Arizona Strong Beer Festival on Feb. 14 in Phoenix. Need more AZ beer? Check out our picks for where to drink in downtown Phoenix.

Brewery Travels: My Favorite Brewery/Beer from Each State

In my ongoing quest to visit breweries all across this great land, I have now surpassed the 400 mark, and they’ve been spread across 37 states and 175+ cities. To celebrate this landmark, I’ve put together a ‘Special Edition’ of Brewery Travels: A rundown of my favorites in each of the states visited so far.

Why a Miller Lite Was the Best Beer I’ve Ever Had

I’ve worked in craft beer for nearly five years now. I’ve had the fortune to try some truly amazing brews: Pliny the Elder, Heady Topper, Bourbon Barrel Aged Expedition Stout. Supplication? I’ve got one in my mini-fridge. The reason I’m telling you this is because I want to frame my statements here properly. I’ve had good beer, trust me. The best beer I’ve ever had, though, was a Miller Lite.
